Pioneering projects can build teamwork, cooperation, skills and confidence when living, playing, or just surviving in the woods.
Here are some example projects that could be achieved with the resources available in our woods. There are many vines that could form lashings, and an ample supply of wood in many shapes, characteristics, and sizes that can be used for construction materials.
Knowing that one's well-being will rely on the project's outcome of spanning across a stream or valley, or being safe high above the ground might provide increased motivation for paying attention and doing good work beyond what might happen if just learning and working with lashings and knots on dowel rods in the safety of a building. Here, it's for real. Clearly, there are functional reasons for doing a project at all, and a physical safety reason for doing it well.
